Dr. David Eisenstat is Professor and Chair, Department of Oncology, University of Alberta. After completion of medical school in 1985 (University of Toronto), David completed residency and fellowship training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada in 1991. Subsequently, he completed consecutive postdoctoral fellowships in Molecular Oncology and Developmental Neurobiology at UCSF (1991-1997) and a clinical fellowship in Pediatric & Adult Neuro-Oncology at the U. Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston in 1998. From 1999-2011, Dr. Eisenstat served as the Director of the Brain Tumour Clinic at CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada as well as Senior Investigator at the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology, University of Manitoba. In 2011, he relocated to the University of Alberta, initially as Division Director Pediatric Hematology/Oncology & Palliative Care. In 2017, he assumed his current role as Chair, Department of Oncology based at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. David also is the inaugural Muriel & Ada Hole Kids with Cancer Society Chair in Pediatric Oncology at the University of Alberta.
