Hi there! I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in physiology. I also minored in Music and Education! During my undergrad years, I studied cellular biomechanics in order to understand the complexity of the nuclear pore complex, and its relevance in some cases of muscular dystrophy. We used VMD to map out the SUN-KASH protein complex and run simulations of mechanotransduction while using R Studio to analyze the pathways connecting the extracellular matrix to the nucleus. I also studied how youth learn to make sense and make use of technology in the classroom and how to support sense making through the design of software, curricula, and teacher professional development. After graduation, I worked at a small biotech start up in Berkeley, CA to help develop the world’s fastest translation engine leveraging cell-free synthetic biology, automation, computer learning, and metagenomics to unlock and identify new molecules and new chemistry. I obtained a Masters in Biomedical Sciences from Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science where I studied the effects of vaping and its link to hypertension and metabolic disease. I also conducted public health research and wrote reviews on the future effectiveness of the Tobacco 21 law, passed in 2019. I am currently an MS4 and doing clinical rotations.
