About

Dr. Townsend currently serves as the Director of Faculty Development at California University of Science and Medicine in Colton, California, where he also holds an appointment as Assistant Professor of Medical Education. He has worked in higher education since 2003, with experience ranging from community colleges to public and private universities, undergraduate and graduate education, and medical education. He trained in the Cultural Studies department at Claremont Graduate University and then later at the Rossier School of Education at University of Southern California. His professional and research interests include metacognition, self-regulated learning, writing instruction and evaluation, empathetic teaching approaches, leadership, organizational change, organizational communication, and program review and strategic planning. He is the owner of Townsend Writing Coaching, an academic writing coaching firm offering graduate, postgraduate, and executive writing coaching in all areas of study with special focus on the dissertation process. In addition, Dr. Townsend holds a lecturer appointment in the Department of Management at California State University San Bernardino and an adjunct professor appointment in the School of Business and Society at the University of Redlands.
