Dr. Frederick โRickyโ Friedman is a Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is currently the Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Elmhurst Hospital Center, a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. He is Vice Chair of Academic Affairs for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Prior to his role as site Director, he served as the Director of Obstetrics, Director of the Division of Generalists, and Director of Appointments and Promotions in the Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr. Friedman maintains a clinical faculty practice in general obstetrics and gynecology and plays an active role in the education of medical students and residents. He is a recipient of the National CREOG and APGO Awards for Resident and Medical Student Education, respectively, and has received additional accolades for his educational and clinical efforts. He is a 3 -time recipient of the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Physician Communication and is also a recipient of the Gold Humanism Award.
Dr. Friedman received his Bachelor of Arts cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical doctorate from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was awarded the Ronge Prize for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Upon completion of his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Dr. Friedman joined Mount Sinaiโs full-time faculty.
Dr. Friedman has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has authored textbook chapters concerning both obstetrical and gynecologic topics. He is an avid sports fan and a proud father and grandfather.
