About

Suboxone is a medication used to help people who are addicted to opioids, like heroin or prescription painkillers, to recover from their addiction. It is a combination of two medications called buprenorphine and naloxone.

Buprenorphine helps to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms that people experience when they stop using opioids. It works by attaching to the same receptors in the brain as opioids, but more safely and less intensely. This helps people gradually decrease their dependence on opioids.

Naloxone, on the other hand, is added to Suboxone to discourage misuse. If someone were to take Suboxone in a way that is not prescribed, such as injecting it, the naloxone can cause withdrawal symptoms to occur immediately.
