Tramadol is a synthetic opioid analgesic medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain in adults. It works by changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain. As part of a class of drugs known as opioid agonists, Tramadol is similar to endorphins – the brain's natural pain reducers – by binding to receptors in the brain to decrease the body's perception of pain.
