About

Restoril increases the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which inhibits brain activity. It calms the central nervous system, helps people relax, and makes it easier to fall asleep.
Restoril is usually intended for short-term use because of the potential for tolerance and addiction. The usual recommended dose is taken just before bedtime. It is important to follow the dosage and duration of use instructions given by your doctor. Restoril is usually prescribed for a limited time, often 7-10 days. Long-term use can lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms after stopping treatment. Abrupt discontinuation of Restoril without medical advice is not recommended.
