Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil (1981), graduated in Statistics from Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Brazil (2016), Master's degree in Tropical Medicine from the UFMG (1990) and PhD in Tropical Medicine from the UFMG (2001). Full Professor of the Faculty of Medicine at UFMT. Currently a volunteer researcher at the Júlio Müller University Hospital (UFMT). His academic work focuses on the areas of epidemiology and control of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. His main line of research addresses aspects of the diagnosis, treatment, and control of endemic infectious diseases in Mato Grosso, mainly malaria, leishmaniasis, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, and COVID-19. Since 2021, he joined the faculty of the Medicine Course at the Univag University Center as Professor.
