A white capsule-shaped tablet with imprint T 257 identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate 325 mg/5 mg. T 257 pill is a codeine-like narcotic pain reliever and cough suppressant. Hydrocodone blocks receptors on nerve cells in the brain that cause pain. Acetaminophen works by increasing the pain threshold, which means that the nerves responsible for pain must be stimulated more in order to feel pain. Reduces fever by affecting the temperature-regulating center of the brain. Hydrocodone and acetaminophen are often combined for pain relief.
