Valium is an anxiety medication used to treat a variety of conditions, from anxiety and muscle spasms to seizures and alcohol withdrawal. It is a benzodiazepine, a class of drugs known for their sedative and sedating effects. Valium binds to receptors in the brain responsible for the release of anxiety-related neurotransmitters, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It is available as 2 mg tablets for oral administration. 5 mg, or 10 mg from diazepam
