Ativan is a fast-acting anxiety pill and, as a result, has a relatively long half-life. The half-life of lorazepam is extended to 12 hours, which means that the concentration of the drug in the body is halved every 12 hours. This medication is clinically indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorder (with or without depression) as well as episodic anxiety, among other mental health conditions.
