Dr. Sidman is the Director of Research and Academic Strategy at Children's Minnesota, and is Professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Sidman graduated from Vassar College. He spent two years in the Peace Corps in Micronesia and then went to Dartmouth Medical School. He served in the National Health Service Corps as a general practitioner in rural Maine for two years. He then completed his Otolaryngology training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After residency, he was on the full time faculty at the University of Connecticut and was the acting Chief of Otolaryngology there for one year. He has been in Minnesota since 1993. He has published numerous articles in addition to local and national presentations, and was the founder of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Children?s Hospital and the University of Minnesota. He is the former Director of Children?s ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery at Children?s Minnesota. He travels once or twice a year to third world countries to lead medical missions primarily focused on cleft lip and palate repair. He has served on numerous committees for the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, and has been an Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at numerous medical schools. Dr. Sidman?s main clinical and research interests are in cleft lip and palate, pediatric tongue base obstruction, facial paralysis, and head and neck tumors in children.
