About
I am currently serving as Assistant Professor of Cardiology at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, is a leading figure in interventional cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology in Pakistan. With over 15 years of experience in internal medicine and cardiology, I have significantly contributed to the evolution of cardiac services in the region—particularly in pioneering specialized electrophysiological techniques and advocating for pediatric cardiology in underserved populations.
Educational and Clinical Training:
I have obtained permanent registration from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC; Reg. No. 14102-N) and began postgraduate training in general medicine at Khyber Teaching Hospital, rotating through various subspecialties including nephrology, pulmonology, and endocrinology. He completed a focused three-year cardiology residency at PGMI, Lady Reading Hospital (2013–2015), followed by a dedicated post-fellowship tenure in cardiac electrophysiology at Hayatabad Medical Complex (2017–2018).
Professional Trajectory:
I have held roles ranging from medical lecturer to district cardiologist and have been instrumental in shaping cardiac services in both urban and peripheral hospitals. Since joining Lady Reading Hospital in 2019, he has led multiple clinical and educational initiatives, combining hands-on procedural excellence with academic mentorship.
Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology Expertise:
I have independently performed over 3000 coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary interventions. I am also a recognized expert in structural heart interventions such as Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy (PTMC). A trailblazer in electrophysiology, he introduced left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) in the province and has conducted more than 700 radiofrequency ablations and over 3000 device implantations—including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices.
Pediatric Cardiac Electrophysiology Development:
A recent focus of my work is the advancement of pediatric electrophysiology. I have presented his insights at the Pediatric Cardiology Conference 2023 and is actively collaborating with international pediatric EP specialists to establish a dedicated subspecialty service in Pakistan.
Research and Academic Contributions:
I have authored and co-authored 27 peer-reviewed research publications spanning diverse domains including ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, structural interventions, rheumatic heart disease, and pediatric myocarditis. My scholarly work has appeared in reputable journals like Cureus, JPMA, Pak J Med Sci, and the Revista Colombiana de CardiologĂa. Several of my studies, such as those on left bundle branch block-related dyssynchrony and outcomes post-PTMC, have clinical implications that inform guideline-based practice in low-resource environments.
Vision and Future Directions:
I am committed to expanding access to cutting-edge electrophysiological treatments across Pakistan. My upcoming goals include the integration of 3D electro-anatomic mapping for complex arrhythmias and initiating cryoablation therapy for atrial fibrillation. My long-term ambition is to build a comprehensive pediatric electrophysiology program and to foster research that bridges local patient needs with global cardiology innovations.
