About

Dr. Mitchel Okumu is a Pharmacy and Poisons Board (Kenya) Certified Forensic Pharmacist and Toxicologist. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology, University of the Free State and a Former Senior Director of Research and Training at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya. He holds a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and has published over 40 peer reviewed papers in esteemed journals curated by Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor and Francis, Frontiers, ScieLo, MDPI, Oxford University Press, and Hindawi. His research interests are molecular pharmacology, ethnopharmacology, snakebite, and antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Okumu is a co-PI in a post marketing surveillance study on PANAF-Premium Snakebite Antivenom funded by Premium Serums and Vaccines, and an investigator on National Institute of Health and Care Research (UK) and University of Notre Dame Funded Grants on antimicrobial resistance, public health, and cancer.
