Summary
Prof. Soheyl Noachtar is the head of the Epilepsy Center of the University of Munich Hospital Grosshadern and Professor of Neurology at the University of Munich. He received his M.D. from the Free University of Berlin and worked on his thesis on the sleep of epilepsy patients with Prof. Peter Wolf and Prof. Dieter Janz. He worked as a fellow in epileptology at the Dept. of Neurology of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation with Prof. Hans Lüders.
He holds the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology and is a certified neurologists and psychiatrist by the German Chamber of Physicians. He was appointed chairman of the EEG department and a founding member and co-director of the Dept. of epilepsy surgery at the Bethel Epilepsy Center in Bielefeld/Germany.
Prof. Noachtar served on several review boards for national and international grant applications and on editorial boards of several national and international journals on Epilepsy, Neurophysiology and Neurology. He is member of national and international societies on epilepsy and sleep, was founding member of the German Epilepsy Surgery Workgroup. He received the honorary membership of the Chilenian Epilepsy Society at their 50th anniversary and the Price of the German Society of Clinical Neurophysiology in 2009. He organized several international meetings and numerous national teaching seminars and meetings on epilepsy. Prof. Noachtar is author and co-author of over 300 original publications, book chapters, congress proceedings and review articles in national and international journals and authored or edited four books, three with Prof. Hans Lüders, two of which were translated in several languages. A comprehensive EEG textbook in collaboration with Dr. Jan Rémi will be released in Germany in January 2018.
