About

Qualification: After completion of undergraduate studies in medicine (MBBS, 1986 -Chittagong University Medical College), Ashoka Dey Chowdhury completed her doctoral research and clinical training (PhD in Medical Science, and clinical training in Paediatrics) from a National University of Japan – Okayama University Medical School with a scholarship from the Government of Japan. She completed the Fellowship (FRCPCH) from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, England, and a DCH -RCPCH from the same Royal College. She obtained a PG Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, UK.
Trainer and Clinical Tutor: She is involved not only in clinical practice in Paediatrics, also in teaching, research and providing the clinical training for the trainee doctors in Paediatrics. Currently she is a consultant paediatrician at Queen’s Hospital Romford. She is selected as clinical tutor of the RCPCH and represents Queens Hospital Romford (Barking Havering and Redbridge University NHS Hospital, UK).
Research: She obtained grants-in aids to carry out immunological research on H. Pylori and investigated the role of Cytokines and other interleukins in H. Pylori infection - published. She also published research in neonatal Jaundice, Stevens Johnson Syndrome etc. She guided research on Paediatric COVID and PIMTS (of two pandemic periods in the UK) and published in BMJ –Paediatrics and Child Health and continues to do so.
Teaching: She has experience of treating various categories of Paediatric cases in several UK hospitals, and abroad. She worked as a teaching faculty at St George's Hospital University of London, UK. She was appointed as a clinical teaching faculty of Paediatrics at the Nitte University Medical School ( KS Hegde Medical Academy), Mangalore India. She was appointed as a Professor of Paediatrics at DY Patil Medical College, Mumbai, India. She is a sincere, hardworking and a passionate paediatrician to deal with the difficult sick children efficiently and manage their parents/ carers emphatically as and when needed.
