Worked as University Professor and Head, Have over 50 years experience in the field of Veterinary Public Health, Published more than 625 papers, Authored 9 books,Received Distinguished Teacher Award, International Achievement Award,Life Time Achievement Award, Developed Pal sunflower seed medium (1980), PHOL stain (1990), Narayan stain (1998) and APRM agar (2015) for the study of fungi implicated in many clinical disorders of humans and animals,Advised 63 students at DVM,MSc,MVSc,and Ph.D.level,Worked in Belgium,Japan,New Zealand, Ethiopia, Delivered many Guest Lectures in India and foreign countries, Published many papers in collaboration with the scientists of Japan,New Zealand,South Korea,Hungary, Greece,Poland, Bangladesh, Nepal,Georgia,USA,Started Master and Ph.D.programme in Veterinary Public Health for the first time in Gujarat,India, Instrumental to launch Ph.D.in Veterinary Public Health for the first time at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, Editorial Board on many online journals, Reviewers of several journals,Biography is published in World’s Who and Who. Established the first environment prevalence of Cryptococcus neoformans in New Zealand, Nepal,and Djibouti, Elucidated for the first time the role of Cryptococcus neoformans in the mastitis of goat and buffalo, Fusarium solani in corneal ulcer of buffalo, Aspergillus fumigatus in rhinitis of camel and mule, Trichophyton verrucosum in dermatitis of deer, and Candida tropicalis in human lung empyema. Reported the first isolation of Candida albicans from mastitic milk,and Trichophyton verrucosum in dermatitis of camel in Ethiopia,Helped to develop Medical Mycology in a few Medical Colleges in India, Helped in the identification of fungal isolates sent by several institutes, Gave identified strains of fungi to several Veterinary and Medical Colleges for teaching the students, Our papers are frequently cited as reference by many scientists of the world, In recognition of my outstanding contribution in the Veterinary Public Health, Indian Society of Veterinary Public Health Specialists instituted award on my name ( Prof.Mahendra Pal Zoonoses Award),This award is given every year at the national conference to the scientists who did excellent work in zoonoses, Launched Narayan Consultancy on Veterinary Public Health and Microbiology to give free technical advice to the scientists of the poor resource nations, Over 2000 students are benefited from my knowledge,Also doing small philanthropic work from his monthly salary/ pension to the poor and needy people of the society since 1970.
