Prof. Dr. Ferda Kaleağasıoğlu was graduated from Kadiköy Anatolian High School in 1978 and Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1984. Between 1984-1986, she completed her compulsory service at Alanya Tuberculosis Dispensary. Between 1986-1991, she completed her residency training in medical pharmacology at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. From 1989 onwards, she joined the projects at German Cancer Research Center, Germany. Between 1991-1996, she worked at the Oncology Institute and the Aziz Sancar Experimental Medicine and Research Institute of Istanbul University and after 1996, she joined the multinational pharmaceutical industry and held the positions of Scientific Project Manager, Medical Affairs and Registration Departments’ Manager, Country R&D Manager, Company Spokesperson, Industrial relations Manager, Management Committee Member, and Europe-Middle East-Asia Medical Affairs Committee Member. In 2011, she re-started working as an academician at the Yeditepe University Department of Genetics and Biotechnology / Faculty of Engineering (2011-2012), the Department of Medical Pharmacology of Near East University Faculty of Medicine (2012-2014; 2017-2020) and Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine (2014-2017). In addition to her academic studies, she held many administrative positions including Phase Coordinator, Research Education Development Committee member, Research Strategies Committee member, Ethics Committee member and Accreditation Coordinator of Medical Education. Her main scientific research interests are cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and consciousness.
