About
Dr. Bynum graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1975 and completed an internship at Tulsa Regional Osteopathic Hospital. He practiced family medicine in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Jefferson City in 1979 where he continued family medicine until 1993. During this time he served as Chief of Staff of Charles E Still Osteopathic Hospital where he also established the Family Practice Residency program in 1998. He became board certified in Family Medicine in 1985, obtained his MPH from St. Louis University School of Public Health in 1992, and became board certified in Preventive Medicine, Occupational-Environmental Medicine in 1994. His career crossed several, but interrelated disciplines, including Occupational Medicine, regulatory medicine and administrative medicine. These included being the Medical Director for an Occupational Medicine clinic, the Missouri Quality Improvement Organization, a statewide Medicaid managed care program, and the Regional Medical Director for the Missouri and Arizona Department of Corrections. He was also involved with local, state, and national organizations. This included serving as President of the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons in 2003 and Chairman of the Board for A.T. Still University from 2009 - 2011. He was also involved in many community activities. Dr. Bynum recently joined the KCOM Arizona Region faculty as Director of Student Education in July of 2019.
