I received my medical degree from university of Crete in 1998 and an MSc in Endovascular Surgery from the Medical School, University of Athens in 2011. My PhD Thesis (1999) focused on the computational simulation of the hemodynamic performance of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms. My major scientific and research interest focuses on the computational simulation of hemodynamic performance of abdominal aortic aneurysms and aortic endografts.
After successful completion of basic vascular training in University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece, I worked in the Vascular Department of St. Bonifatius Hospital in Lingen (Ems), Germany (2010, Directors: Hartmut Goertz, Joerg Tessarek). I currently hold the position of Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery in the Medical School, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece and I serve as Consultant Vascular Surgeon in the Vascular Department of the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis, Alexandroupolis since 2010.
I participate actively in the pre- and postgraduate Academic Teaching of Vascular Surgery as clinical tutor and instructor in doctoral research projects. I have been involved as first author or coauthor in more than 170 scientific publications (first Author in more than 100) indexed in Pubmed and Scopus and in 5 international book chapters related to vascular surgery.
