Dr. Wajiha Rizwan is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Child Health Sciences (UCHS) and consultant pediatrician at Children’s Hospital Lahore (CHL), a 1300-bedded one of the largest pediatric hospital and a leading center of excellence for pediatrics in the country. She is a qualified medical educationist and is also Deputy Director Medical Education Department at the University. The Child Protection Unit at CHL, the first of its kind in Pakistan, serves as a critical referral center for managing child abuse and neglect across Punjab. She leads this unit as Secretary of the Child Protection Committee at the university.
Dr. Rizwan has an impressive portfolio with 24 publications in indexed medical journals. She is reviewer of many impact factor journals, including 3 international journals ( Frontiers in Medicine, Cureus Journal of Medical Sciences & Natural Science) and Pakistan’s leading journals like Annals of KEMU, Pakistan Journal of Medical Research and Rawal Medical Journal. She is also chief editor of Pakistan chapter’s Newsletter of Medical Women’s International Association.
She has authored a book and contributed a chapter to the Elsevier publication "Water Matters." Moreover, she is the contrubutor in a clinical handbook on managing child abuse and neglect, published by PAHCHAAN (a child rights NGO) and UNICEF. Her humanitarian work is extensive, involving leading medical teams to flood-affected regions, organizing medical camps in slum areas, and championing the needs of women and children during natural disasters. She has also been honored with a Special Achievement Award from the district government for establishing neonatal and pediatric ICUs at district headquarter Hospital in Sialkot, with the support of government and philanthropists. Moreover she is also course director of Pediatric Advanced life support course at American Heart Association, CPSP as well UCHS.
