About

Corrie Chumpitazi completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with Honors from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Research at the University of Texas Health Science Center. During her 12 years at Baylor College of Medicine, she has worked closely with the Evidence-Based Outcomes Center and throughout the hospital to improve knowledge translation/dissemination in the areas of pain and sedation management. In these areas, she has worked closely with both the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians Pediatric Emergency Medicine committee on national guidelines.

She has served as a Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network site Principal Investigator on several pain related studies. She currently has an ACEP-Pfizer quality improvement grant for sickle cell disease care delivery. She serves as the Associate Chief of Research for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine section and is the Sedation Oversight Committee co-chair for Texas Children’s Hospital. She is course director for the Society for Pediatric Sedation Simulation Provider Course. She was the 2018 Department of Pediatrics Clinical Excellence Award Recipient and has received several teaching awards from Baylor College of Medicine. She was a 2018 Women of Excellence Award recipient and also received the 2018 Star Award from Baylor College of Medicine.
