Then, Fulbright Scholar at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York (Natural killer cells) and Tufts University, Boston (Idiotypes in autoimmunity and Rheumatology).
Visiting Professor at Stanford University (1996, Feldman Fellowship), Harvard Medical School (2001, FAIMER Fellowship), Cambridge (2004) and the University of Oxford (2013).
Head of a large academic Department of Medicine since January 1991 (to January 2015), Educator and Full Professor of Medicine, Hebrew University Hadassah, Jerusalem (2007) with more than 500 cited publications (h-Index 36) in peer-reviewed international journals and books. Research interests include:
Basic & Clinical Research: Cytokines in autoimmunity; Virus- and viral vaccine- induced autoimmunity; Cytokines in chronic hepatitis C; Complement system in Rituximab treatment; Rheumatoid arthritis and Sjorgen's syndrome.
Quality of Care; The Clinical Encounter with emphasis on basic clinical methods in diagnosis; Patient-Physician Relationship with emphasis on humanism / empathy; and Medical Education. Repeatedly named Excellent Educator by students and the Dean, winning the Faculty Prize 2003, and Dean's Prize for Medical Education, 2014.
