I obtained my MBBS and MS (General Surgery) degrees from Armed Forces Medical College, under Poona University and trained in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital in Pune. Subsequently. I have worked as Professor and Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology at INHS Asvini and Army Hospital (R&R) and have subsequently headed the Department of Surgery at INHS Asvini. I have been involved in teaching and training postgraduate students for their MS (General Surgery) since 1993 and have guided several students in their research and thesis writing towards their qualification for their master's degree. I superannuated as Director of the Institute for Naval Medicine and Dean of the faculty at INHS Asvini in 2013. Post-retirement I worked for a charitable hospital as a consultant surgeon and am currently employed as Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at AIMST University, Bedong, Malaysia.
