In 1981, I started my research career working on vector-borne diseases on Leishmaniasis then on FIlariasis in 1994. I became a WHO advisor for the Global Program for Elimination of Lymphatic filariasis in 1999 then a member of the Global Alliance for Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (GAELF).
In 2004 I started to work on making prevention, research ethics, and injury prevention in parallel with LF.
In 2010 I directed all my research activities towards substance abuse research (mainly khat research) when I became the Scientific Director of the Substance Abuse Research Center (SARC) at Jazan University.
I published more than 100 manuscripts and had been invited as a keynote speaker in different conferences. In addition, I had presented many oral and poster presentation in different international conferences and was a member of the Scientific Committee of the two conferences heal on Substance Abuse Research at Jazan University during the last 10 years.
