I got training in diverse aspects of microbiology including microbiological laboratory techniques, microbiome culture processing & preservation, laboratory safety, quality management, identification of bacterial species by biochemical tests and antibiotic sensitivity tests. During my studies, I got the opportunity to work as a Research Fellow in an HEC Project entitled "Determination of antibacterial and antifungal activity of various toothpastes against oral pathogens". I completed the project as a Research Fellow published MPhil thesis on the same topic. In the research project, I worked on opportunistic bacterial and fungal pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. and Candida albicans.
Later my work was published in Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Science (Nawaz et al., 2019; Pak J Pharm Sci). I engaged myself in different projects and activities which made me competent to learn different aspects of microbiology (especially identification and culture of infectious opportunistic pathogens and antimicrobial efficacy of drugs) and enhanced my knowledge towards applied research.
