Natalyn Hawk received her B.S. from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her MD and PhD degrees from Brown University where she studied the impact of protein interactions on cancer progression in chronic myeloid leukemia as a visiting researcher jointly at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Molecular Pathology. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland in 2006. She was a research fellow in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory Winship Cancer Institute for one year and then completed her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Emory in 2010. She is Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine for internal medicine and for the subspecialties of hematology and medical oncology.
Natalyn joined the faculty at Emory University in 2010 as an Assistant Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology, and is a member of the GI oncology and Sarcoma Programs of Emory Winship Cancer Institute and Grady Memorial Hospital. Her research interests included both interventional studies for treating advanced pancreas cancer and focused review of impact of specific clinical factors on treatment outcome in patients with advanced gastrointestinal malignancies including colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumor and pancreatic cancer. She was a 2010 recipient of the Robbins Scholar Award to support a feasibility study of a novel schedule of combined chemotherapy-radiation therapy given pre-operatively in patients with potentially resectable pancreatic cancer.
Natalyn served as as Interim Chief of Service for Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University Midtown Hospital from April, 2013 until March, 2015.
Natalyn is currently an Associate Director of Clinical Research in the Oncology Business Group of Eisai, Inc. in Woodcliff Lake, NJ where she is directing studies in various tumor types including renal cell carcinoma, gastric cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma.
