Medical Doctor (MD) graduated in the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1982. He performed a medical residency of surgery at the Hospital Bernardo Houssay in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to work the as a general surgeon in numerous private institutions. In 1989, as a result of having witnessed an episode of maternal death due to postpartum hemorrhage, he wrote a thesis about the study of pelvic circulation (PhD). During this period, he developed different procedures and techniques to manage postpartum bleeding, but particularly developed surgical techniques to preserving the uterus. He is regular guest at international meetings and congresses on this subject. He is currently leading an international team to reduce abnormal placental invasion, one of the most common cause of morbidity and maternal mortality in the world. Currently he is an obstetric surgeon, associate member of department of obstetrics and gynecology of CEMIC University Hospital, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is professor of anatomy and head of anatomy department at School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Due to his activity in investigation and teaching, he received the distinction of Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, London, UK. He is also member of FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) working group on labor and delivery; consultant in uterine conservation techniques and obstetric bleeding and particularly in abnormal invasive placenta. He is consultant and pioneer in placental magnetic resonance studies in the Fundación Científica del Sur, Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is an honorary member of SIEOG Società Italiana di Ecografia Ostetrico Ginecologica, the Argentinian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (SOGIBA) and New European Surgical Academy (NESA) among others. He was an active participate in over 150 national and international congresses and author of more than 150 published papers in peer review journals. He is also author and co-author in 16 books and winner of 9 national and international awards and reviewer of more 30 international journals
