About
My name is Kim Allen; I am a family nurse practitioner working in emergency medicine with a Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine and Integrative and Functional Nutrition, specializing in Nature-Based Healthcare.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I taught for the Colorado Outward Bound School leading multi-day expeditionary trips in the mountains, deserts, and coastal environments.
I encouraged and taught the importance of outdoor education, ecology, team-building, and technical skills as the building blocks and catalysts for personal and professional growth.
My goal is to create an integrative educational program that focuses on outdoor experiential healthcare as a springboard for achieving personal wellness that extends to the community and beyond.
I believe our personal healthcare is intertwined with the environment, and one cannot separate the two. By learning how to care for ourselves and those in our community, we are also creating an environment of health, wellness, and compassion for the planet.
