About
Dr. C Murugan is presently serving as Professor and Head, Department of
Library and Information Science and also Chair, School of Library and
Information Science at Periyar University, State government and UGC funded
University Re-accredited by NAAC with “A” grade. He possesses a Master Degree
in Library and Science with a Doctorate in Library and Information Science.
Annamalai and Anna University are alma maters.
His areas of specializations are Management of Library and Information
Systems; User Studies; Information Resources; Research Methodology; E-
resources Access Management. He has teaching experience of 25 years at PG level
teaching and is active as a recognized research guide. He has guided 08 Ph.D.
candidates and Ph.D. awarded 02 candidates. He has published 30 national and
international journal publications, and is the author of 4 books to his credit.
He served as Head of libraries in Arts & Science, Engineering and Medical
institutes across the South India. He developed digital library systems and
modernized library facilities and services in the institutions where he served. He is
governing council and academic council member of colleges, Board of Studies
members in Universities across South India and experts in selection panels of
faculty members and librarians.
