About
Mukund Nori holds the position of Director, Medical Affairs and Principal Medical Writer at rareLife solutions with over 16 years of experience in medical communications. He has developed and implemented strategic publications plans and communication platforms for several drugs and devices. He has led teams in a wide spectrum of disease areas including oncology, cardiovascular disease, rheumatology, dermatology, asthma, immunology, diabetes, aesthetic dermatology, and several rare diseases. He has published on the ethics of medical publications and on rare diseases.
Prior to working in publications, Mukund spent over 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry developing drugs for the treatment of cancers, metabolic, and neurologic diseases. His research in oncology included work on breast cancer, prostate cancer, metastatic mechanisms, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and leukemias. His work on insulinotropic mechanisms led to a record of invention for a peptide. His preclinical work on multiple sclerosis paved the way to differentiate autoimmune processes involved in different forms of the disease and identifying potential therapeutic targets.
Mukund has a PhD in Biology from University of South Carolina, an MBA from University of New Haven, and is a Certified Medical Publications Professional (CMPP). He serves as the Chair of the Ethics and Standards Committee of the International Society of Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP). As a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia, he demonstrated the link between ras, src, and MAP-kinase as a functional signaling pathway in cells. With this combination of training in science, pharmaceutical drug development, and business, Mukund brings a rare perspective to publications ensuring that the strategic plan disseminates the information ethically, transparently, and effectively while also meeting the business goals of the client. Outside work, he is a recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award in 2012 (President Barack Obama).
