David Sleet, Ph.D., served as the Associate Director for Science for 16 years in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention at the National Center for Injury Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the senior advisor on matters of science and policy. Before joining CDC, he taught and conducted research in public health at San Diego State University, directed the Road Accident Research Unit at University of Western Australia and at VTT (the Road Safety Agency) in Finland. He spent 4 years with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration helping to develop public health research and programs. He has published more than 200 articles related on injury prevention and health, and co-authored the World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention, the Handbook of Injury and Violence Prevention, and Injury and Violence Prevention: Behavioral Science Theories, Methods and Applications. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Health Behavior, on the Editorial Board of 7 journals and Adjunct Professor at San Diego University and at Emory University in Atlanta.
