Dr. Ahmed Hussein specializes in treating irregular heart rhythm including atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias. He uses ablation techniques, as well as implanted devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, to regulate heart rhythm and alleviate symptoms in patients.
Dr. Hussein uses the latest technologies, including cryoballoon ablation, index-guided ablation, and cardiac devices that do not require access through blood vessels, such as the Micra pacemaker and subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (S-ICD). He also offers A-fib treatment options for patients with a high risk of bleeding, and laser extraction of infected or malfunctioning cardiac device leads.
Dr. Hussein is an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
His professional memberships include: Heart Rhythm Society, European Society of Cardiology, and Royal College of Physicians of London, United Kingdom. He is an ambassador of the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners.
