About
Dr. Maimonah Alghanmi holds a PhD in Tropical Medicine from Liverpool School of
Tropical medicine. At the moment she works as an assistant professor of parasitology in the
department of Medical Laboratory Science, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, KAU.
During her PhD she investigated molecular parallels of the mechanisms used by tropical
disease pathogens to access their hostβs blood stream. Using a bioinformatics-led approach, in
combination with immunological and proteomic analyses. These studies had gained her a
good experience in bioinformatics analysis, peptide vaccine design and several proteomics
techniques (e.g. protein purification from tissue extracts, protein determination and Western
blotting). As a parasitologist she is an expert in parasites diagnosis, culturing of different
stages of parasites and immunological diagnosis of parasites e.g. ELISA.
