Formal training in IM, ID, epidemiology and preventive medicine, and tropical medicine. I have worked in several US cities and in southern Africa with a focus on HIV and related disorders including STDs, TB, and hepatitis. I am Professor in the Wayne State School of Medicine, the director of the largest HIV care system in Michigan, the Detroit Public Health STD clinic, and a statewide training center for HIV and STDs: the Michigan AIDS Training and Education Center. I have published on HIV pathogenesis, computer modeling on antiretroviral prescribing, provider-patient interactions in HIV care, and the effect of mental health and substance use on HIV care.
