About
I grew up in Delhi, the capital city of India, which is one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the world. Despite a strong base in computers, my passion for caring for the sick propelled him into the world of medicine. I completed my M.B.B.S. from one of the best medical colleges in India, University college of medical sciences. I also did two of my electives at Massachusetts General Hospital. It was during this time that I decided to come to the United States for further training in Internal Medicine. I worked in India as a general practitioner for three years before moving to the New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center. Experience in India helped me to adapt and excel in this new healthcare system quickly. My patients and house staff fondly call me “Jags.” During my residency training, I was awarded the “Clinical Excellence Award” in 2019 and elected to serve as a chief medical resident for the academic year 2020-2021. My affection for cardiology grew stronger while caring for the patients at the state-of-the-art cardiovascular unit in WMC. Working with renowned cardiologists like Dr. Lanier, Dr. Frishman, and Dr. Aronow, I continue to explore his interest in cardiovascular diseases. I have been continually active in scholar activities, including literature reviews, posters, presentations at national meetings, writing book chapters, and freelance question writers for board review courses.
As a chief medical resident, I aspire to enhance the educational experience of the trainees via noon conferences, ICU/CCU rounds, chair rounds, and running code simulations. Further, I am spearheading several programs for the residents, including the buddy mentor system, structured board review program, and organizing specialty interest groups. I am also focused on involving residents in more research activities, quality improvement projects, and patient safety. Outside of work, I love to troubleshoot computers, listen to audiobooks, go for a run, and to take a stroll at the Hudson riverside with his wife.
