Dr. Andrés Álvarez Pinzón is a physician-scientist and executive research leader with over two decades of experience in clinical oncology, neurosurgical research, and translational medicine. He currently serves as Director of Research at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where he leads the Clinical Trials and Translational Medicine Division. His work focuses on accelerating the integration of precision medicine, AI-driven analytics, and immunotherapy into cancer research and clinical practice.
Dr. Álvarez Pinzón has spearheaded numerous multidisciplinary initiatives, including the development of brain tumor research protocols, minority-focused biorepositories, and early-phase oncology trials involving CAR-T and novel cellular therapies. He is also the founder of Fundación GRACE, a center of excellence in neurology, gerontology, and cancer care in Latin America, which promotes access and innovation across underserved regions.
Holding both MD and PhD degrees in neuroscience and clinical oncology, Dr. Álvarez Pinzón combines academic rigor with strategic vision.
