Dr. Gitto is a forensic pathologist with board certifications in Legal Medicine (Italy) and Anatomic and Forensic Pathology (United States). After graduating from medical school and residency in Italy at Sapienza University of Rome, he completed the Anatomic Pathology residency program in Syracuse, New York, and a Forensic Pathology fellowship in Chicago. He works as an Assistant Medical Examiner at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office in Chicago. He is a member of the National Association of Medical Examiners and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Gitto's activities include multiple publications, research awards, editorial roles in forensic pathology journals, active involvement as a speaker and moderator at global conferences, and teaching as a guest professor in forensic pathology-focused medical courses.
