Ayman Salah is well known for his contribution in establishing liver transplantation program in Egypt and for being a hepatobiliary surgeon.
Dr. Ayman Salah received his M,B.B.Ch from Faculty of medicine, Cairo University in 1982 with an excellent with honor degree.
In 1992 he completed his doctorate degree in the field of General Surgery.
He was a Research Fellow with clinical attachment in the Department of Surgery and Liver Transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, where he received his training on liver transplantation with Prof. Dr. KarimAbul-Magd; as well as at UCLA , LA, California and at Mass General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, in USA (1993-1995).
He was as well a Registrar in the Liver & Hepatobiliary Unit in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK, with Prof. Paul MacMaster (1995-1997).
He received a special training on living related liver transplantation in Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, Korea, with Prof. Dr. SK LEE(2003), and in Essen, Germany, with Prof. Chris Brolesch (2004).
In addition to his position as a professor of Surgery at Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University since 2002, he was also the Chief of Emergency Department at Kasr El–Ainy Hospital (2011-2014).
Prof. Dr. Ayman is among the team which established the Liver Transplantation program at Kasr el Ainy Hospital, Cairo University(2004), which performed more than 340 living related liver transplantation (till now)with great success.
He published a series of surgical books (7 books) registered under his name.
He also was the Chief of Surgery Department at Saudi-German Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1997-1999).
Dr. Ayman established and was the Clinical Director of the Liver Unit at Nasser Institute, Ministry of Health, Cairo, Egypt (2002-2005).
Moreover, he was a consultant and Head of Surgery Unit at Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital, Ministry of Health, Cairo, Egypt since 2011 before being nominated as General Director in January 2015. Dr Ayman remained as General Director of Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital for three years where he established a Liver Transplant Unit and obtained the global accreditation for the hospital as well as several notable achievements.
Dr Ayman has been appointed as the Chairman of the Council of the General Surgery Departments at Kasr el Aini Medical School - Cairo University.
Dr Ayman has been appointed as Member of the Supreme Medical Committee at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
