About
I earned my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali, India, in the Evolutionary Genetics and Microbiology. During my graduate study, I explored the genetic basis of thermal adaptation and evolutionary ecology immunity. I also worked on the host-parasite interactions and have isolated a novel bacterial pathogen from wild flies.
After finishing my PhD, I joined the Perelman School of Medicine-University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral fellow where I was involved in investigating the role of γ-herpes virus latent proteins in the chromosome instability which leads to cell proliferation. I also investigated the epigenetic regulation of the stem cell factors which leads to cell proliferation and metastasis in B-cell lines as well as in endothelial cell lines.
I am presently a postdoctoral fellow in at the NYU School of Medicine. I am interested in the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms by which the receptor for advance glycation end-products (RAGE) and Diaph1 pathway modifies the properties of macrophages, as relevant to diet induced obesity and diabetes. In addition to this, I am also looking at the role of matrix protein in the fat deposition and cancer metastasis.
