Dr. Abbas is a consultant general and laparoscopic surgeon, assistant professor of clinical surgery, and head of the surgical Subspecialty department at King SalmanSubspecialty hospital, Hail, KSA. He was the former head of the general surgery department at National Guard hospital, AL Madinah and King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh (KSA). He was graduated from the University of Khartoum /Sudan in 1982, obtained the fellowship of the royal college of surgeon /Ireland 1n 1990, and the fellowship of the American College of Surgeons, the international college of surgeons (USA), and a Diploma in laparoscopic colorectal surgery from Strasbourg Institute (France). He is actively involved in the training of surgical residents, and he was the former director of the Saudi council training program in general surgery at the National Guard Hospital, Al Madinah, and King Fahad Medical City Riyadh, KSA. He is an examiner for the Saudi council for health specialization in general surgery and a member of the general surgeon's evaluation committee of the Saudi council, (western region). He was the former organizer, and director of the basic and advanced laparoscopic training courses at National Guard hospital, Al Madinah. He is the founder and editor chief of the Sudan Journal of Surgical Sciences and Research and a member of the editorial board and reviewer of many international medical journals. He is a member of many international academic associations and societies of general, laparoscopic surgery, and the international federation of obesity and metabolic surgery. He is an active researcher with more than 80 scientific papers published in different international medical journals and the author of the book (case studies for postgraduate examinations in general surgery). He has honored with the fellowship of the medical research center (USA). He was awarded by the National Guard Health Affairs of KSA for his effort in the consolidation of zero SSI and no harm policies.
