Kevin was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He left to pursue his undergraduate studies in biology and cognitive neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis. He returned to Houston thereafter to join the Medical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine. There he completed a Ph.D. under the mentorship of Dr. Stephen Gottschalk developing genetically modified T cells for the treatment of glioblastoma. Aside from neurosurgery, Kevin enjoys camping, rockclimbing, snowboarding, doing triathlons, and spending time with family and friends.
