Dr. Grant is a leader in medical education and is actively involved in the implementation of simulation at a local, regional, national and international level. He completed his medical training at University of Stellenbosch, South Africa before training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Intensive Care in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.

As Chair of the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre he has developed a comprehensive simulation strategy for the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust with pillars of training, quality improvement patient safety and research. He has pioneered an innovative delivery model utilizing simulation centre based delivery of simulation education to fund and support the implementation of the Bristol Paediatric Simulation Programme and the Bristol Adult Simulation Education Programme delivered at point of care.

As Director of the BPSP he has spearheaded its development and growth though a strong focus of faculty development and integration of simulation as educational tool in blended learning approach to multi-professional curricula. He has positioned simulation as a central tool in institutional strategy for quality improvement and patient safety initiatives such as the development of a generic human factors and team training curriculum adapted and implemented in training of multiple teams and development of educational interventions to address issues highlighted through institutional governance and risk reporting systems.
