Onyedika Okoye is a consultant general and trauma surgeon at National Hospital Abuja, Nigeria. He is the current head of trauma and Coordinator of National Trauma Centre at National Hospital Abuja. He is passionate about acute trauma care (pre- and in-hospital), resuscitation and damage control surgery. He is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course director, International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) medical director as well as a certified instructor of several trauma and emergency courses. He belongs to many prestigious international organizations including American College of Surgeons (FACS), American Association for Surgery of Trauma (AAST), International Society of Surgery (ISS), International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC), European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES), and African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) amongst others. He is equally a fellow of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCS), West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and International College of Surgeons (FICS). His major research interest is in the area of trauma surgery.
