About
Karen Morin, RN, is an oncology and hospice nurse with extensive clinical experience in Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) since the implementation of the California End of Life Option Act in 2016. She is the founder of LA Patient Advocates, an RN-led patient advocacy practice established following passage of the Act. The organization collaborates with hospices and referring providers to support patients and families navigating serious illness and end-of-life decision-making. LA Patient Advocates maintains seven-day-a-week RN coverage, with participating physicians available for consultation, evaluation, and facilitation of Medical Aid in Dying for eligible patients in accordance with the California End of Life Option Act.
Ms. Morin serves on the Medical Advisory Board of Compassion & Choices and on the Board of Directors of WeSPARK Cancer Support Center. She has presented on end-of-life care and Medical Aid in Dying at educational programs for City of Hope, UCLA Health, Cedars-Sinai, and community organizations.
