About
My clinical research interests revolve around oncology, pulmonology, emergency medicine and critical care, high value care/quality improvement in primary care. I focus on clinical and basic science investigations that emphasize multidisciplinary collaboration and bridge research lab, clinical medicine, and healthcare business.
I graduated with B.S. in Business from University of Maryland, completed post-baccalaureate studies in Premedicine at St.Petersburg College, and earned my M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine. I am currently a resident physician at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
I led a basic science research team while in medical school and our project produced evidence for the proposal to the Commonwealth of Dominica policy makers to subsidize the immunohistochemistry technology and encourage local clinicians to refer complex patients to the neighboring European Union territory, Martinique of the French Republic, for a second opinion and oncogenetic testing. Using a local anatomy lab and a small research facility, we performed microscopy analysis of the frozen sections of the cadaver tissue samples that supported the previous diagnosis of lung cancer. However, subsequent analysis of tissues with CK7 identified primary tumor in the colon with metastasis to the lung that was determined to carry intermediate prognosis with a possibility of complete cure with targeted immunogenetic chemotherapy. Further analysis of other tissues also proved that there is a significant difference in patient outcomes even in a rural setting when molecular biology and immunohistochemistry are employed in developing a treatment plan.
