Trained as a chemical physicist I worked in the pharmaceutical industry in research on molecular interactions at the cell level. I have worked for 20 years on the health effects of ionizing radiation, authored many papers and books on the issue; I am an expert on internal radionuclide effects. I have been a member of several UK Government committees on radiation effects and I am currently Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk and editor of its 2010 Recommendations (www.euradcom.org)
