About
Born, raised and educated in Perth, Australia, Dr. Bloomfield did post graduate work in the Halstrom Institute in Sydney, Australia, Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee and the Heart Hospital in London, UK. He directed the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratrory in Maimonidies Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY from 1968 until taking the Chair of Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Staten Island, NY in 1975 (now known as Richmond University Medical Center) for 27 years. Presently he is Director of Clinical Research at RUMC, working with house staff- initiated studies and doing some clinical teaching.
He has written 2 books, published over a hundred medical articles and has presented many studies at national and international meetings.
He has been married for 60 years, has 3 daughter, 6 grandchildren and as of 2024, 2 great grandchildren. He lives on Staten Island overlooking the Verazzano Bridge and his interests, apart from medicine, include music, theatre, art, tennis (alas no longer), sailing, golfing, and flying.
