Dr. Luísa Moniz is a colorectal surgeon at ULS Lisboa Ocidental, with a clinical and research focus on rectal cancer, colorectal oncology, and minimally invasive surgical approaches. Her work centers on oncologic and functional outcomes in rectal cancer, optimization of perioperative care, and implementation of ERAS®-based quality improvement programs.
She coordinates the Adult Oncology Reference Center for Rectal Cancer, where she leads multidisciplinary initiatives integrating advanced imaging, surgical innovation, and evidence-based clinical pathways. Her research interests include organ-preservation strategies, anastomotic leak prevention, stoma management, and longitudinal outcome measurement using PROMs, PREMs and value-based healthcare methodologies.
Dr. Moniz is also an Assistant of Surgery at Nova Medical School. Her academic activity spans surgical education, clinical research, and translational quality metrics, with ongoing involvement in multicenter research collaborations and outcome-driven health system redesign.
