Tim R. Randolph, PhD, MT(ASCP) is a tenured, Associate Professor and chairman of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science, Doisy College of Health Sciences at Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center. He received his bachelors degree in Medical Technology from University of Illinois at Springfield, formerly Sangamon State University, in Springfield, Illinois in 1983. He was subsequently employed as a medical technologist at Memorial Medical Center, also in Springfield. Tim earned his Master of Science in Medical Technology from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond in 1987 with an emphasis in clinical hematology and experimental immunology. Upon graduation he accepted a faculty position in the Medical Technology Program at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. Tim earned a doctorate (PhD) in Hematology from Warnborough University where he developed a new diagnostic test for sickle cell anemia to be used in developing countries. Tim currently teaches and coordinates courses in the areas of hematology, hemostasis and thrombosis, and research methods at both the junior and senior levels. He also teaches research methods in the graduate program for dentists seeking a Masterโ€™s in orthodontics, periodontics, and endodontics as well as laboratory methods to PA and PT students. Tim conducts research and publishes in the areas of hematology and hemostasis and is a frequent presenter at local, state and national levels. Tim is active in ASCLS at all levels and was a former member of the ASCLS Board of Directors. He maintains an ongoing research agenda investigating hemoglobinopathies, HIV, typhoid, STDs, and other medical conditions in Haiti, development of novel diagnostic testing for underdeveloped countries, platelet aggregation studies, the micro-ESR as an at-home monitoring tool, and lab test interferences. Tim is also founder and president of Randolph World Ministries, Inc. a medical mission ministry that establishes and develops laboratory services in existing clinics in Haiti.
